SYA Baseball tryouts for its Spring 2010 travel teams have been completed. Teams have been selected and all tryout candidates will be contacted.

NEW THIS SPRING: SYA Baseball along with a re-energized SYA Babe Ruth program has put together a travel program at the 13u age group that provides further opportunities for those players with aspirations of playing high school baseball. SYA Baseball for 13u should reside within the boundary for SYA Babe Ruth.

Involvement includes:

• Winter program, first focuses on an optional speed/agility/strength workout program, followed up with 2+ months of indoor team workouts with various options
• Participation in the SYA Babe Ruth spring season at one of three levels:
  • 13 Prep: Introduction to the 90’ diamond
  • 13-15 National: Best 13 yr olds along with second and third year players not playing high school baseball in the spring
  • 14/15 American: Typically high school players as this compressed season starts following completion of the local high school season

These travel teams will compete locally in a Sunday-only league with team practices once during the week, in addition to playing for your house SYA Babe Ruth team.

• play with and against some of the best local competition in Northern Virginia
• with spring house baseball, the ability to play positions typically not afforded to a player on a travel team
• ability to tryout for the various SYA Babe Ruth All Star teams that could end up competing nationally
• no requirement to play Babe Ruth in the fall

• provides visibility to local high school baseball programs

Playing SYA Travel along with SYA Babe Ruth maximizes a players experience while staying in the local area – except if All Star teams advance through their brackets!
